Armagh Baptist Church

Serving the community and giving glory to God

Armagh Baptist Church has a rich history rooted in its mission to share the gospel and serve the local community. Established in 1917, the church began as a small gathering of believers dedicated to worship and biblical teaching. Over the years it has grown both in numbers and impact; moving to its current location in 2003 to accommodate its expanding congregation. The church has remained steadfast in its commitment to proclaiming the Word of God, fostering fellowship, and engaging with the wider community through outreach initiatives and missionary support. Its legacy reflects a blend of tradition and forward-looking faith.

At Armagh Baptist Church we seek to provide sound Bible teaching, adding nothing to and taking nothing away from the inspired word of God.

Our core beliefs...

Whether you are searching for a church home, trying to figure out who God is or have been persuaded by a friend to come along, you are most welcome here. Armagh Baptist Church is not a building – it is a group of people, flawed people, who have come together to worship God. There are no qualifications needed to join us, no dress code required… just come as you are.

Our morning service starts at 11am, typically lasting between 60 and 90 minutes, as we sing together, pray, open and study God’s Word and enjoy communion together. If you are saved and walking with God join us in eating bread and drinking wine to symbolise Jesus’ body broken and blood shed for us.

Children are most welcome at all our services. Children of primary school age will be catered for in Sunday School, while parents with younger children are invited to make use of our creche facilities – just ask any of our deacons at the door. Children are able to leave during the singing of a song, just before we study God’s Word. Any children of secondary school age are encouraged to stay with us in the main churchbuilding, where they can avail of a helpful worksheet to guide them through the sermon.

Our evening service begins at 6:30pm and takes the same format as our morning service. We do not, normally, provide additional facilities for children during this service but we encourage you to join with us and worship as a family.

Both services are preceded by a time of prayer – 10:15am and 6:00pm.

You can take part, or simply listen, but you are always welcome.

The verbal inspiration and total inerrancy of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as originally given by God; their sole sufficiency and final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

One God in three persons, The Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-equal, co-eternal, sovereign and active in creation, providence and redemption.

The essential deity and perfect humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the only mediator between God and men; His virgin birth, sinless life and sacrificial death on the cross as the only substitute for sinners; His burial, bodily resurrection and ascension to heaven; His high priestly ministry and personal return.

The work of the Holy Spirit in regenerating the sinner and indwelling, sanctifying and empowering the believer.

The personality of the devil; his evil activity and final doom.

The creation of humanity, male and female, in the image of God, equal in value and complementary in role; The creation ordinance of marriage as the lifelong union of one man and one woman; the entrance of sin through Adam’s disobedience; the fallen and totally depraved state of all humanity; their subjection to God’s wrath and condemnation; their responsibility to repent and believe the Gospel.

The justification of the sinner by God’s grace alone through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ alone; the eternal security of the believer.

The church, the body of Christ, made up of those drawn from every tribe, language, people and nation throughout history who are added to it by the work of the Holy Spirit and the exercise of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; the scriptural expression of the church in the world as the local company of baptised believers gathered under the headship of Christ for worship, fellowship, instruction and evangelism, in separation from all systems of belief that do not adhere to the Scriptures and are unfaithful to the Gospel of salvation by grace alone. The ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s supper; baptism being the immersion of believers on profession of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and a symbol of their identification with Him in His death, burial and resurrection; The Lord’s supper being a remembrance of Christ until He comes and a renewal of commitment to Him; the offices of elder and deacon; the gifts of evangelist and pastor-teacher; the priesthood of all believers and their unity in the Body of Christ; the separation of church and state.

The unconditional immortality of the soul; the resurrection of the body; the eternal joy in heaven of the believer; the conscious eternal punishment in hell of those who die impenitent.

The responsibility of all believers to obey and serve the Lord and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives; the duty of each church to exercise godly discipline in a loving and caring fashion.
